We are Mordpfauen, a group of Landsknecht reenactors based out of the Pacific Northwest. Our group is made up of a variety of players representing the various officers, soldiers, and camp followers that would be found in support of a historical regiment. Our guild members appear at various faires throughout Washington and Oregon to provide a historically based, interactive, but above all, entertaining experience for patrons.
Who were the Landsknecht?
The Landsknecht were German mercenaries used in pike and shot formation from the late 15th century to the early 17th century. They are remembered for living short, brutal lives and wearing flamboyant outfits.
What does “Mordpfauen” mean?
We wanted to choose a name that honored the colorful and bloody history of the Landsknecht –while we considered several, there was one that truly rose above the rest. Mordpfauen. We are the “Murder Peacocks.” Need we say more?
